Mini Altoid Tin & Shrink Plastic Necklace by Monica Black

Stamps used:

FSSK-1fp - Faerie Present from the Christmas Faeries plate
FSSK-1h - HoHoHo from the Christmas Faeries plate
FSSK-1nn - Naughty or Nice from the Christmas Faeries plate
Sand the paint off all areas on the outside of the tin. Drill or punch holes in the tin. I wanted this to open from the top with the lid flipping down, so I put 2 holes in the bottom of the tin on the side opposite the hinges.

Use a small piece of felt and a Q-tip to cover inside of tin with brilliance red gold ink. I used the reinker for this. Start with the corners and sides, then do the flat lid and bottom sections of the tin. Heat set ink.

Use a new piece of felt and adirondack alcohol ink, pesto (green), to cover the outside of the tin. Do not cover where the lid covers the bottom of the tin as this will make the fit too tight and will get worn off anyway.

Sand a piece of transluscent and a piece of white shrink plastic. Wipe off dust. Stamp gift faerie on transluscent shrink plastic using palette noir black ink. Color image with markers (tombow #800 ~ light pink for skin) and sakura glitter gel pens.

I outlined the wings with the red gel pen and filled in the open areas with the tombow marker. I very slightly touched the marker to the gel pen ink and drew a scant amount into the rest of the wing. I then retouched the outlines with the red gel pen to repair any smudges.

(note: once i had the faerie colored, etc, and after taking the pictures i decided i didn't like the colors of the present so i redid the piece. I also decided to use transluscent instead of white shrink plastic.

When i redid the piece i forgot to take pictures before assembling. The picture showing the faerie before and after shrinking are the first try. The final piece shows the second version.)

Trim image closely. Begin shrinking with heat gun. The plastic will curl up and in most cases will flip over. If it doesn't flip over on it's own, flip it over and continue to heat. When it starts to flatten out flip it back over and finish heating.

Press piece with a hard surface while it is still hot to get it flat again.. Punch out a small heart out of white shrink plastic. Color with versamagic ink, pixie dust. Stamp "hohoho" using palette noir black ink. Heat as before.

Cut another piece of shrink plastic slightly larger than the "are you naughty or are you nice?" stamp using deckle scissors. Color piece with brilliance red gold ink. Stamp saying using palette noir black ink. Heat as before. Use a krylon gold pen on all edges of the 3 pieces. Have a little bit of the gold come over onto the front of the heart around "hohoho."

Adhere gift faerie and hohoho heart to lid as shown using crafter's pick glue. Cut a piece of green candy wrapper slightly larger than "are you naughty" saying with deckle scissors. Adhere to inside of lid with crafter's pick glue as shown. Adhere saying as shown.

Be sure to have the "are you naughty" saying correctly positioned so that when the lid is opened the wearer can read the saying. Cut a length of black rattail cord. Thread ends thru holes in tin and knot. Put a dab of glue on inside of holes and pull cord taught.
