Terrell Smith-Dorfeo is a 38 year old mom of two darling children, and wife of her loving (and extremely supportive) husband, Tony. She resides in Pittsburgh, (otherwise known as the "Steel City") and is a professional freelance artist. She is considered an up and coming illustrator/animator of fantasy images. What does that mean, exactly? Her art is caught between two worlds: Terrell's characters are considered a bit too complicated for animating most of the time (not impossible, mind you--they are very unique) and her art tends to have a lot of detail! She studied at "The Art Institute Of Pittsburgh" for "Media Arts and Animation" for several years in the recent past and has learned a lot of interesting and wonderful techniques from some fantastic animators. Terrell is mostly self-taught with recent classes for polish and has won awards throughout her career and life as an artist. She has been creating most of her days as she comes from an artistic family, but has been taking it very seriously for about 12 years---mostly for her own entertainment! She imagines that you are probably wondering if others of her family members draw cartoony as well.....no, just her! Terrell is the only one who does this stuff; her inspiration comes from traditional cartoons and comics. Her art truly reflects this; she listens to the beat of her own drummer.
Terrell enjoys working by traditional means; ink work and mixed media being her favorite mediums. Because of her animation training, she creates many drawings a day, often with a fantasy/toony theme. Terrell is known for her curvy gal drawings as well as art for kids; quite often she gets asked about custom made tattoo art from fans and collectors of her unusual craft.
Several of Terrell's artworks are published in the books "500 Fairy Motifs" by Myrea Pettit of Fairesworld & "Enchanted Artists: Visions of Atlantis" by Ellen Million Graphics (sold out), "Faeries Through the Seasons" (2006) and the in the book "Drawing the Magick of Dragons". Her work has also appeared in several e-zines, magazines and newspapers during the past few years with more to come in the future!
